Companion
The Companion spends time with the patient and keeps them occupied in their home environment. They can accompany the patient to town or on shopping trips. The carer becomes part of the family and spends time with the patient as required – going for walks where possible, and keeping them active. They will also keep the patient’s environment clean and assist with personal hygiene.
Care Giver
The Care Giver has some medical training, though they have not completed their training or passed their final examinations as yet. This means they are capable or taking and recording basic medical information, if the appropriate equipment is provided, and aid in preparing and administering daily medications. They are able to assist with hygiene, grooming, and meal preparation.
Auxiliary Nurse
An auxiliary nurse is able to spot potential medical problems or symptoms which may arise, and set processes in motion to have them addressed appropriately. Again, they are also capable of performing the duties of a Companion and Care Giver in addition to the above.
